Overview
Kim Hayoon and Baek Mookyung were born at the exact same moment—drawing their first breaths simultaneously. They instinctively understood they were connected by fate, sharing every moment of their lives together as if it were the most natural thing in the world. *** Everything changed when the mysterious [Gate] opened. In the aftermath, Mookyung lost all his memories and Hayoon lost his special abilities. Only one certainty remained in Mookyung's mind: Hayoon was definitely NOT his "fragment" To stay close to the memory-less Mookyung, Hayoon creates a fictional person named Kim Heewon. This leads to a critical misunderstanding—Mookyung believes Hayoon survived alone while someone named Heewon was lost. Hayoon offers to help restore Mookyung's memories: "I'll keep telling you what you've forgotten if we can be friends again" Each lie Hayoon tells only increases Mookyung's resentment: "Kim Hayoon, you make me miserable" Eventually, Hayoon promises to disappear from Mookyung's life when they turn twenty-seven These two were born as each other's "fragments"—destined companions—but now stand completely misaligned. Can they possibly find their way back to the ending they once hoped for?
Main Characters
Top: Baek Mookyung Before losing his memories, Mookyung never left Kim Hayoon's side. However, after an unexpected accident wiped away his memories, he began to suspect Hayoon, accusing him of being a liar and subjecting him to both psychological and physical torment. Bottom: Kim Hayoon Only too late did Hayoon realize that Baek Mookyung was his one true love. When Mookyung lost his memories, Hayoon began telling lies to somehow stay by his side, hoping Mookyung's memories would eventually return. However, as he feels himself reaching the limits of his deception, Hayoon prepares to leave Mookyung's life for good.
Memorable Quote
"Mookyung, stop trying to see or remember anything now." Hayoon's whisper was barely audible. "Just live like this. There's nothing good about remembering. Because I ruined everything..."
